New Restorative Materials and Techniques: Miracles or Myths?
An explosion of new restorative materials for direct and indirect applications has occurred in the last decade. While these materials claim outstanding performance and ease of use can offer the dentist and patient unsurpassed esthetic results, there are key issues in their clinical application that must be addressed for maximum success. Topics covered using and evidence-based approach (laboratory and clinical research and practical clinical application) include:
Direct metal free restorative dentistry (half day or all day)
- Dental adhesives
- Anterior and posterior composite restoratives
- Nano-fillers
- High and low viscosity resins
- Polishing systems
- Pulp management and pulp capping
- Polymerization Devices
- Dual-cured cements and adhesives
- Resin based luting materials
- Minimally invasive restorative dental procedures
Indirect metal free restorative dentistry (half day or all day)
- All-ceramic dental restorative systems
- Veneers
- Crowns and bridges
- Inlays and onlays
- Post and cores
- Impression materials
- Provisionalization

"Dr. Latta does a fantastic job of making the science of modern dental material understandable and practical! He appreciates what the practicing dentist needs to know to make smart material choices for their patients. Most importantly his presentation style makes learning dental materials fun!"
- Dr. Gary M. Radz
"We really enjoyed having Dr. Latta speak for us yesterday evening. I hated dental materials in dental school. Partially because of the subject, but even more so because of the instructor. Mark loves what he does and it shows. Dr. Latta cuts through the hype of many of the products out there. He takes research from the laboratory trials into the operatory and makes it all relative. His knowledge of materials and the science behind them, is second to none."
- Christopher R. Sprout
"Dr. Mark Latta has a message every dentist needs to hear and backs it up with research. His presentation on dental material science allows the practicing dentist to implement clear protocols into their practice. He had every dentist glued to his lecture which is not easy to do. Dr. Latta is very well organized and presents with passion!"
