Dr. Sam Simos is nationally recognized as a leader in cosmetic and restorative dentistry. He received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery at Chicago's Loyola University. He currently teaches post-graduate courses to practicing dentists on cosmetic dentistry, occlusion, and comprehensive restorative dentistry through Allstar Smiles' state-of-the-art Learning Center and client facility in Bolingbrook, IL and throughout the country.

Materials, Techniques & Technologies for the Exceptional Dental Office
With today's advanced restorative materials, success is dependent upon 4 major elements: technique, knowledge, accuracy, and team preparedness.  This presentation will examine how each element plays a critical role in the success and longevity of your indirect & direct restorations when determining materials, systems and techniques.

  • Learn about building a team approach to bonding while increasing value with patients for new materials.
  • Bonding update...What you need to know about bonding systems and compatibility before you place your next direct or indirect restoration.


Optional Hands on component:

working with models, participants are able to use the techniques and materials featured in the presentation under the direction of the speaker who will provide real time feedback, tips and additional instruction.  In this hands-on portion of the program a scripting strategies workshop break out session will also take place in order to build value with patients so that the participants can return to their office, prepared to put their new skills to work in their own environment for the benefit of their patients.

 

Bonding: Truths, Myths & Consequences
Our reputation as clinical dentists in delivering esthetic and restorative dentistry is directly dependent upon adhesion! Whether it be direct or indirect,  adhesion is the foundation for the success of long-term dental restorations.  Individual substrates require a customized protocol for optimized adhesion.  This presentation breaks down and simplifies the components of successful adhesion, through the exploration of the best materials currently available and the protocols and techniques that accompany these materials.

  • Learn why, when given the option, to adhere.
  • Learn why indirect self-cure mechanisms rule in indirect dentistry.
  • Learn the importance of dual cure systems in less light accessible areas.
  • Learn how to adhere to different substrates: enamel/dentin; Zirconia, metal, Lithium Disilicate, and Feldspathic porcelain.
  • Learn the evidence-based protocols to successful adhesion.

 

Optional hands-on Component: Working with models, different substrates, and the latest materials featured in the presentation, participants will be able to utilize information of the lecture in order to solidify the steps and techniques necessary to put their new skills to work in their own environment for the benefit of their patients.


Taking your cosmetic dentistry from Acceptable to Exceptional
Today, it is hard to find a dentist that doesn't offer cosmetic dentistry.  However, so often the results are just  average.  Cosmetic success is dependent upon the clinicians understanding of 5 key elements: smile design, patient expectations, tooth preparation, substrate/bonding knowledge, and materials.  This course will examine how each element plays a critical role in the overall success of the case and how understanding how to incorporate these elements into your cosmetic cases will take your case from acceptable to exceptional.

  • Learn the key elements of smile design and how to communicate those elements to your patient so that you build value.
  • Learn how to assess the expectation of your patient so that you under promise and over deliver.
  • Learn the basics of tooth preparation design.
  • Learn how to quarterback your case and communicate effectively with your lab.
  • Learn how to make bonding an easy systematic event for you and the patient.
  • Learn the most effective & up-to-date materials/techniques when prepping and seating that will make your life easier.
  • Learn how to systemize your cosmetic process so that you get a predictable result every time.
  • Learn how to utilize photography in order to diagnose and also to communicate with your patient and lab so that a predictable final result is achieved. 

Optional Hands-on Component
Participants will design an anterior cosmetic case utilizing the techniques mastered in lecture.  They will then prepare the case on the model.  Participants will also be able to utilize bonding materials in order to solidify the techniques and protocols discussed.  Participants will also take part in a photo workshop where they can master the skills to communicate effect.
